It’s Marvelous Monday, everybody! This is a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers. Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.
Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!
This week’s theme: Maxi Dress/Skirt
Why yes, my hair is a mess, and I am wearing the same shoes that I’ve worn pretty much exclusively for the past couple of weeks. Bad fashion blogger!
I clearly enjoyed taking pictures in this long, flowy dress a bit too much, which is why you now have to look at all of these.
It’s the first maxi dress or skirt I’ve ever owned, and I have to say, I’m a fan! I like the movement, the way it looks put-together but is even comfier than most of my pajamas. This one is perhaps a little long for me to wear with flats, but it looks nice with the heels. And the boots are a nice way to make it not too summery, I think.
I kept the accessories simple: just gold hoop earrings and a skinny gold belt.
Of course, even though Spring has finally sprung (sort of), it was a bit chilly to go out without a jacket. So I paired this with my black faux leather jacket, a staple in my wardrobe. I also have a brown one, though–might that have been better? I couldn’t decide. I mean, the dress is black with rust-colored and tan colorblocking, so I guess I could have gone either way.
And finally, a close-up so you can see just how messy my hair really is…Also, my nice pink lipstick!

Maxi dresses always make me think of summer, so its nice too see one styled for when its still pretty nippy out. I actually really like your hair up like that. I like thw interesting colourblocking on your dress and the gold belt too.
Thank you!! I do wish it were warm enough for sandals and no jacket, though….
Very cute dress and I love the colors of it. Your hair looks great up and you know if you love those shoes why not wear them with everything especially if they look great with everything! 🙂 I think the black jacket looks great with the dress. 🙂

Thanks! Eventually, though, those shoes are going to fall apart 🙂
I like it. That one has a nice flowy look, most maxi dresses that I see that do not have a “defined” bust line whether it’s an empire waist or whatever, tend to be sort of body con. The color of it will make it an amazing fall dress too.
Thank you 🙂 You’re definitely right, I looked FOREVER to find a maxi dress with a silhouette that I liked, and this one is perfect. Also from a store where I’m larger than the largest size, yet still quite roomy on me–it just goes to show, trying things on can be surprising!
I was actually thinking much Iiked your hair like that! 😉
I love the maxi dress with your leather jacket.
I usually wear maxis in the summer, but sometimes in early fall, when I’m not quite ready to give them up, I’ll pair them with motorcycle boots and a jacket. Great way to get a little more versatility out of such a simple, comfortable piece.

Thanks! I unfortunately bought this one when it was freezing cold outside, but I think you’re right, I’ll probably get some wear out of it in the early fall, too.
Loving the maxi dress! I have been a bit wary about maxi dresses in the past, but bought a couple in the sale last year that I am dying to wear this summer, when it arrives!
Thanks! I’m hoping I can find more maxi dresses this summer, I love this one more than I ever thought I would 🙂
Love this look, and the colours in the dress. I’m not a big wearer of maxi dresses but I’ve found myself wearing them the past week just for the comfort factor!
Thanks! They are incredibly comfortable 🙂
This maxi dress is divine! I can imagine it will be very versatile and a great staple for hot weather. Also, I agree that either jacket color would have gone well.
I’m still waiting to wear a maxi dress. The weather has been rain/windy all week. So uncool! haha But I did buy a new one recently that I’m dying to kick off it’s styling season.
Thank you! I’m sure that real spring will be here soon…and summer soon after that! Definitely maxi dress season.
I’m finally commenting! Haha.
I love that dress, it just looks amazing! And I like how you paired it with the jacket—I think the black works nicely with the dress.
Maxi-anything is just a wonderful reason to wear clothes that are 80% pajamas and still look put-together, and I like that.
Thanks! I love cute clothes that feel like pajamas.
You are amazing. I have really liked the maxi dress and the little belt.
