Marvelous Monday: Sheer Tops

It’s Marvelous Monday, everybody! This is a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers. Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

This week’s theme: Sheer tops.

P1150926

I didn’t feel like it would have been appropriate for me to wear my sheer top with just a bra to my Qualitative Research class, so this outfit isn’t as daring as the theme would allow it to be. The top is Old Navy from at least a year ago, and I wear it fairly regularly so I’m a bit surprised it hasn’t been on the blog before. It’s got a banded waist, which I don’t usually like, but I’ve worn it in the summer with denim shorts and I like the contrast of the super casual shorts with a top like this.

P1150930

I also like to wear it tucked in, as you can see here; always the best solution for banded bottom tops. I like this skirt as well, and it goes to show you should try things on; it’s from Dorothy Perkins, and it’s a UK18, while I usually wear a UK22. I got it from fatshionxchange, though, and the seller said it fit up to my waist size, and voila, it works!

P1150927

My hair’s kind of a mess; I usually don’t have time to do anything with it when I have early classes, so whenever you see my hair looking nice, that probably means I came home and fixed it before taking pictures. No time, today, though, I have a meeting in 20 minutes! Same concept for makeup; it’s pretty basic in these photos.

P1150925

The next few weeks are going to be insanely busy for me. Lots of work to do. I’ll be leaving at the end of May, though, for Berlin, then London, then New York, and finally, home to North Carolina from mid-June to mid-August. Can’t wait to be back in the States for a couple of months! I’m already counting the days.

Stuck In A Rut Saturday

In case you haven’t noticed, my fashion is not very creative lately. Here is yet another outfit with black tights and my black skater skirt. Reason? I’m so insanely busy with schoolwork. My posts are infrequent, and they are pictures of boring outfits because I’m stuck in a fashion rut. At least it’s a cute fashion rut?

Marvelous Monday: Inspired by Artwork

It’s Marvelous Monday, everybody! This is a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers. Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

This week’s theme: Inspired by Artwork

I kind of did this one backwards–when I got dressed, I forgot about Marvelous Monday. But I really liked my outfit, so instead of changing I decided to find artwork to match my outfit. Without further ado, the painting:

Art Prints

And, my outfit:

P1150903

I thought the painting was appropriate inspiration as it includes both the same pattern of red and white stripes and the nautical theme. I really like this sweater, although I am less of a fan of the fact that my legs really haven’t seen much of the sun in many, many months!

P1150901

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday, and what I thought was going to be a quiet day turned into quite a nice small party when some of my friends surprised me with a barbecue and a trip to the beach.

P1150899

I guess I should have some sort of introspective post evaluating the year, but I’ll just say that 21 was a very interesting year. A lot happened. I returned to school, for one, which also for me meant coming back to Germany.

P1150894

I also traveled quite a bit, both within the US and Germany, and to several other countries. I met some new friends, reconnected with some old ones, and drifted apart from some other friends. I guess that last one is inevitable.

P1150902

22 is off to a great start so far, and I’m hoping it continues this way! I know it’ll be a difficult and stressful year with a lot of life changes, but hopefully it’ll all turn out okay.

Funnily enough, I wasn’t the only Marvelous Monday blogger celebrating a birthday yesterday; make sure you wish Cheri a happy birthday, too!

Spring Is In The Air

I promise, someday soon I’ll write again on Fridays….but right now, I’m just too busy and too exhausted, so you get pretty pictures instead!

P1150887 P1150884 P1150890

This is just a casual outfit, going to class and working on a group project and so on. The floral top makes it bright and springy, but other than that, there’s not a whole lot going on.

Remixed!

As a poor student, I can’t buy new clothes all the time. My wardrobe is limited, but that’s no reason not to show you some new outfits! The shoes are the only thing that’s new here (and they’re not really new, it just hasn’t been possible to wear them since I started this blog in December), but I think it’s a cute outfit all the same.

There’s not much to say about it; my usual color palette, my favorite skirt. What do you guys think of fashion bloggers remixing the same pieces? I see so many who have something new every time, but I think this is more realistic for most of us.

Marvelous Monday: Breaking All The Rules

It’s Marvelous Monday, everybody! This is a weekly blog challenge between myself and four other fabulous fatshion bloggers. Make sure to go check out their outfits today, too! Links are at the bottom of the post.

Our philosophy: Monday is nobody’s favorite day of the week, but maybe its terrible reputation is a little undeserved. We’re on a mission to make ours (and hopefully yours) a little less awful by dressing marvelously!

This week’s theme: Breaking A Fashion “Rule”

P1150818

Now you know why Friday’s outfit would have fit, too! It seems that one of the cardinal rules of fat fashion is that we always need to pretend to have an hourglass figure. Emphasize your waist! That’s what it’s all about, apparently. Extraneous belts abound. Not that I’ve never enjoyed a waist-emphasizing outfit myself, but it’s totally unnecessary to always dress that way. And today, I’m not showing off a pretend hourglass figure at all!

P1150807

I also haven’t shaved my legs in over a week (not that you can tell in the photo), and my bra strap is peeking out in a couple of these photos. These are definitely fashion rules I’m breaking. But who cares! I look awesome, and I feel awesome. Especially because I woke up today, and it was magically spring. I’ve been freezing since September, with only a 3-day reprieve in early March, but now, it’s warm and sunny and beautiful outside. The flower are blooming! The birds are singing! What’s not to love? Why get hung up on silly fashion “rules” when all that’s going on outside?

P1150813

I’m also breaking what so many of my fellow fatties see as a rule, by showing off my upper arms. A message, to my fellow fatshionistas: letting the sun and the fresh air touch as much of you as possible is a wonderful feeling! Try it out sometime!

P1150817

For some reason, a lot of people are wearing coats outside. It’s 70 degrees. It’s very unnecessary. I think that Germans like to dress for the worst possible scenario, i.e., it might get cold later, so I’d better wear a coat. Personally, I think it’s nuts. I’m off to enjoy the sunshine now!

Casual Friday

This week has been pretty exhausting, so as much as I know you all love my opinionated rants, there will be no Fabulously Fat Friday today. (Of course, in its own way, every Friday is fabulously fat.) Instead, I’m bringing you yet another outfit post with my favorite color combinations, but this time, surprisingly, I’m wearing new shoes!

P1150788

In a way, this outfit would have been perfect for the next Marvelous Monday….hint, hint! You’ll see what I mean in a few days.

P1150783

You know that pastels are my favorite, that mint and lilac have a special place in my heart, so you can imagine how much I like this super relaxed outfit. What’s more casual than leggings and a slouchy sweater??

P1150791

It’s also not the most “flattering” of outfits. I usually dress with some emphasis on my waist, so in that sense it’s a departure for me. It doesn’t show off any hourglass figure, but that’s okay! It’s cute and comfortable and I’m happy wearing it.

P1150795

And these shoes! Can you see why I love them? Only 5 euros, too! I mean, they’ll fall apart sooner rather than later, but, they have butterflies on them! So worth it!

Outfit details:

Mint slouchy sweater with pockets: H&M+ (Germany)
Mint tank (underneath): Target (USA)
Pearl pendant necklace: Dorothy Perkins (UK)
Lilac leggings: Next (UK)
Mint polka dot socks: H&M (Germany)
