New Year’s Eve

I had to strike a balance of finding an outfit that is both appropriate for the fairly casual family party I’m first attending, but festive enough for the friend party I’m going to afterwards. I think that with the glittery skirt but plain t-shirt works well!

I hope everyone had a good 2012, and that 2013 will be good to us all. This year was eventful for me. I went back to school, spent time in a total of 7 different countries/territories (USA, Bahamas, St Thomas, St Martin/Maarten [both Dutch and French sides], Germany, UK) and at least 20 US states that I can think of off the top of my head, read 189 books, learned a lot of new things, met some new people, reconnected with some old friends, and more. In 2013, I’ll travel more (Canada, Iceland, and England before I go back to Germany, possibly Belgium in February, and then Barcelona in November are the plans so far), hopefully be able to graduate in December, and then, who knows?

Starry Day

Loving the after Christmas sales! Everything you see is new & was on super sale. I’m really excited about the boots. They’re chocolate brown and were 50% off and very cute!

I’m really enjoying being home for the holidays, and while I’m looking forward to my January travels, I wish my time at home wasn’t quite so short. I love being with my friends and family, shopping, going out, eating delicious American food again….just one more week, though, and I’m gone again for at least 5 months.

Belated Christmas Outfit Post

Here’s what I wore for Christmas day with my family! This photo was taken by my mother, in the backyard at my grandparents’ house. You can’t see it, but the jeans are actually kind of shimmery, so I thought it was festive but still casual. You also get to see my only two Cyber Monday purchases at last (since I wasn’t home to get them before): the jeans and the clutch.

Beige, Brown, & Burgundy

I hope all who celebrate it had a good Christmas yesterday! My actual Christmas outfit was photographed by my mother, who then left her camera at my grandparents’ house, so you’ll see that later. For now, you get this.

I have to say, ever since I picked it up on sale early this fall, this dress has become a staple in my wardrobe! I love the cut of it, and it’s so comfy, and the gorgeous texture but simple color make it interesting without being too much of an overt statement. Here I’m wearing it with burgundy and brown, and I think the muted color palette makes for a perfect winter outfit.

Outfit details:
Beige floral jacquard dress: Dorothy Perkins
Burgundy corduroy blazer: St. John’s Bay / Thrifted
Dark brown braided belt: Deb
Burgundy tights: C&A
Dark brown flats: Payless (I think?)

Peter Pan & Polka Dots

I know this is a pretty simple outfit, but the dress speaks for itself without much styling! I really love this dress, but I’m never sure what else I could do to style it that wouldn’t be too much. Anyway, I’m having a great time with my friends & family, and hope your holidays are going well, too.

Ways To Wear Challenge: Fabulously Festive!

Detail shots:

This is my submission for the “Ways To Wear” blogger challenge! (Click here to see what it’s about.) The theme is “fabulously festive.” Sorry the photo’s not the best, I had to lighten it up to show the detail of the dress and so it’s kind of grainy. I chose to wear a shimmery party dress with gorgeous drape details, and I paired it with some burgundy wedge booties and green dangly earrings for a subtle pop of the colors of the season. Perfect for going out with friends to celebrate the holidays!

Green stone and wire earrings: Bought at a local festival
Shimmery black dress: Forever 21+ via Fatshionxchange
Black stretch belt: Came with the dress!
Black tights: C&A
Burgundy wedges: Target

*GASP* Pantsless!

I’m finally home! After 24 hours of waiting in lines and sitting on airplanes, I get to sleep in my own bed for the first time since August, and it’s amazing. I wish I could stay longer than a couple weeks, but, oh well, that’s life I guess.

It’s nice to be back in America! I got really excited when the default language became something I understood properly, in the Philadelphia airport. I’m glad to be with my friends and family and pets, and just to be home again. To browse in bookstores, to eat my favorite foods, to drive, to shop, to do all the basic everyday things that I either don’t do in Germany or that are different in Germany.

So I wouldn’t wear this for anything important, but I’m just mostly hanging around the house in this outfit on my first day back at home, with a short visit from a friend, and it’s nice and comfy for that, but still cute. I know, I know, leggings aren’t pants, but whatever, these are a cute lilac color and I like them! Plus you can’t see here, but the sheer top is longer in back.

This was obviously photographed in the same place as usual, my bedroom in Bremen, and you’ll see a couple more from there while I’m gone as well–I took a few photos the night before I left with the clothes I packed and planned to wear at home. I’ll definitely try to get more outfit photos taken in the next few weeks, of course, but I figured, I’ll be busy, so having a handful of posts on-hand can’t hurt.
